It’s summer. But in London that doesn’t mean much. It seems the wind is just as brisk, the days are just as short, and the clouds still pour rain. Where better to transport yourself than to a beach. Failing that, a trip to Trailer Happiness on Notting Hill’s Portobello Road for cocktails with a tiki-twist might be just the thing you need.
The bar is cosy, boho-chic kitsch, with Tretchikoff’s Green Lady painted onto the wall. But don’t let the laid back atmosphere fool you into thinking the drinks lack expertise. Recently awarded best international high volume cocktail bar at the 11th annual Spirited Awards, Fraser Stancombe who heads up the team knows exactly what he’s doing.
He’s a storyteller. Not in the sense that he’s chatty, but in the way he crafts his drinks. The cocktails and the experience of drinking them illuminates each spirit, and serves as a starting point for conversation or experimentation into depth of flavours. It’s the ability to transform a spirit through enhancement of a particular botanical or spice that makes these cocktails so special. After all, the menu is designed to help you find the perfect drink to suit your tastes. It’s just one of the reasons we had Fraser develop the drinks menu for our latest London #PressForGin event in the sky.

- 45ml Brockmans Gin
- 5ml Green Chartreuse
- 1bsp BlackBerry and Grapefruit Marmalade
- 15ml Agave
- 25ml Lemon Juice
- 25ml Egg White
Add all ingredients into a shaker, wet then dry shake. Fine strain into a large coupette. Garnish: Pickled Blackberry and Mint Sprig
